While several of Cyr's feats of strength may have been exaggerated over the years, some were documented and remain impressive. These included:
  • lifting a platform on his back holding 18 men for a total of 4,336-pound (1,967 kg)
  • lifting a 534-pound (242 kg) weight with one finger
  • pushing a freight car up an incline
  • At 19 years old, he lifted a rock from ground up to his shoulder, officially weighted at 514 pounds.
  • He beat Eugen Sandow's bent press record (and therefore the heaviest weight lifted with one hand) by 2 pounds (0.91 kg) to a total of 273 pounds (124 kg).

Now that we've seen what grizzly bears are capable of, let's move on to sources that try to quantify that strength. There are several sources, which can give us an idea of the subject. There is an Article in the Finnish magazine "Tiede", (Translated as "Science" in Finnish), from 2015, which corresponds to the question and answer section, in which Heidi Katarina Kinnunen, a famous wildlife expert, was asked from the University of Helsinki, Finland, about how much weight a brown bear could lift in the exercise known as the bench press, to which the wildlife expert said that a 300-kilogram brown bear could lift at least twice as much of your weight. In other words, a 300 Kg brown bear can easily lift twice its own body weight on the bench press.

[UWSL][UWSL]In 2003, the relative strength to humans of Yellowstone brown bears (popularly known as Grizzly bears) was measured using a 700-pound (317.5-kilogram) dumpster, using force sensors, disguised as bird feeders, inserted into trees (to encourage Grizzlys to shake and hit trees), which measure the force with which trees are shaken when shaken and hit by Grizzlys, using people to also carry out the above tests of shaking and hitting trees, and attempting to move the 700 pound (317.5 kilogram) container, in fact the very authors of the study (which was sponsored by National Geographic), volunteered to perform these tests. [/UWSL][/UWSL]

[UWSL][UWSL]According to that human-to-human strength test done with captive Grizzlys, a calm Grizzly bear is between 2.5 to 5 times stronger than an average man, and angry, they would be much stronger, this in terms of pushing force and jerks using only their front limbs. MSU researcher tests grizzly bear strength for National Geographic documentary In addition, according to the "Interagency Grizzly Bear Committee" (IGBC), the kinetic and impact energy transferred to an object by the powerful thrusts and jolts of a Grizzly, using its powerful front limbs, is equivalent to dropping a weight. of 100 pounds (45.4 kilograms), from 2 feet (61 centimeters) high, or what is the same, 200 foot-pounds (271 Joules). [/UWSL][/UWSL]

[UWSL][UWSL]According to this same entity previously mentioned, the bite force of a grizzly, at the level of the canines, is like generating a maximum static force of between 125 to 135 pounds (56.69-61.2 kilograms).[/UWSL][/UWSL]

[UWSL][UWSL]Gary Brown in his book "The Great Bear Almanac" recounts that he saw a one-year-old young American black bear effortlessly flip over a 300-pound flattened rock with one paw, and the young American black bear weighed just 120 pounds. .[/UWSL][/UWSL]
